Aquatic invasive Species

Aquatic invasive species are becoming a serious problem within Britain. They generally favour slow moving or still water bodies in which they rapidly spread eventually choking and killing the eco systems within the water bodies they inhabit. These species achieve this rapid growth through rapid growth, no natural predators and the ability to regenerate from tiny fragments. These species are generally sold as oxygenating plants in pet stores and garden centres and are not subject to any legislation restricting their sale allowing. The main non native species of concern are:
