Clients and Case Studies

We work for clients from a variety of industries. Bellow are some of these clients and examples of the type of work we have carried out for them.

Baker Shepherd and Gillespie (Consultant Ecologists)
One way reptile exclusion fencing was erected on a site with Japanese Knotweed present. Before the fencing could be installed a detailed survey was undertaken to identify patches of knotweed, which were clearly marked in the field.

City and Country (Historic Property Restoration Specialists)
Several small meta-populations of great crested newts were present on a site that contained a
large country house and associated gardens and ponds. The site was to be renovated and
sensitively restored which involved a phased development process. As the development footprint
fell within the terrestrial range of the great crested newts a Natural England license was implemented. As part of this process the site was enhanced for great crested newts and a trapping and exclusion programme was put in place. SES staff also arranged training days for City and Country staff on; the ecology; identification; and the legal status of great crested newts as part of the process.

James Blake Associates (landscape Architects, Arboriculturalists, Architects & Ecologists)
SES has undertaken a number of projects for James Blake Associates ranging from the installation of reptile and amphibian exclusion fencing to the translocation of slow worms and the creation of hibernacula. Some of the amphibian exclusion fencing was to be erected on hard standing and a bolt down system was employed which needed to be approved by Natural England as the work was undertaken under European Protected Species license.

Lea Investments (Commercial Property Developers)
An extended Phase 1 Habitat survey was undertaken as part of a scoping exercise to ascertain
the ecological implications of developing a site in Oxford.
